“Solomon Caw”
Materials: Polymer clay, Apoxie Sculpt, acrylic paint, dupioni silk, organza, velvet, crystal beads, paper clay, papier-mâché.
Size: Full length of crow: 16”, height of chair: 15”.  Year created: 2020
Description
Solomon Caw is a ooak piece that has been embellished with free-motion embroidery. This quilting technique involves the manipulation of fabric beneath a moving sewing machine needle to literally “draw” with thread.

“La Belle Fée Marraine”
Materials: Paper clay, Apoxie Sculpt, acrylic paint, pastel chalk, dupioni silk, organza, silk fibers, millinery flowers, papier-mâché, and ribbon trims.
Size: 17″. Year created: 2022.
Description
La Belle Fée Marraine is a jointed, ooak figure, and here free motion embroidery has been applied in a new way. To create her wings, a simple fabric “sandwich” of Angelina and silk fibers were layered between two pieces of organza fabric. Free motion embroidery was used to make the veining for each of the wings, and the edges were bound with an overlock stitch.

“Wonderland Littles”
Materials: Polymer clay, Apoxie Sculpt, wire armatures, dupioni silk, cotton, wool felt, acrylic paint, mohair fabric, mohair wigging, papier-mâché, and ribbon trims.
Size: March Hare: 7 3/4”; Alice: 7”; Mad Hatter: 8”. Year created: 2023
Description
Wonderland Littles, Edition of Three, open edition. All are mixed media pieces, and the Mad Hatter is another example of free motion embroidery being used to create a fabric “sandwich”, comprised of dupioni silk, Angelina, wool, and silk fibers, overlaid with organza and held together with free motion embroidery.

“Mother Goose”
Materials: Polymer clay, Apoxie Sculpt, acrylic paint, wire armature wrapped in strips of felt, dupioni silk, wool felt, lace, glass beads, ribbon, stretch velvet, wood, flax, millinery flowers, and glass eyes.
Size: 29 inches. Year created: 2023
Description
Mother Goose is a ooak piece that combines free motion embroidery with the Tudor raised embroidery called stumpwork. Flowers, a tree, leaves, a ladybug, and a goose, as well as a companion book of “Hey Diddle, Diddle” have all been created using this new fusion of old and new fiber arts techniques.
