Lisa Lichtenfels:
Lisa Lichtenfels transformed fabric into a sculptural medium of extraordinary depth and intimacy. Her lifelike figures blur the boundaries between art, craft, and animation, conveying character and personality through soft, nuanced forms. She inspired generations of doll and fabric artists to push the limits of textures, expression, and realism. A sequel to Figures in Fabric: The Sculpture of Lisa Lichtenfels, published in 2001, this volume showcases more than 65 works from the years 2002 through 2019.
Before the artist passed away in 2023, she was working on the book with her younger sister and caregiver, Allyson Lichtenfels. After Lisa’s death, the National Institute of American Doll Artists began raising funds to ensure that the last chapter of Lisa’s story would be told. Her exhibitions, teaching, and published work have left an enduring impact on the art doll world, and her legacy remains alive through ongoing efforts to share the scope of her mastery.
