Stephanie Blythe
The Journey
5
1/2"w x 7 1/2" H x 2.5" deep, porcelain,
paperclay and all natural materials including wood, acorns,
lichen and cicada wings. OOAK, 2006
This
wonderful piece of weathered wood was the inspiration for
this piece. I enjoy creating within the confines of a frame
or an antique box. It not only creates a framework for my
creativity; it protects the delicate materials that I often
use in my work.

Moon Rabbit
24"
Seated, Hand-sculpted head in stone clay covered in silk,
body and costume all silk, stand in lacquered basswood,
OOAK, 2007
In
Chinese mythology, a White Rabbit is supposed to be the
luckiest of all because of longevity, which is derived from
the Moon. The Chinese speak of “Moon Rabbit”
or “Rabbit in the Moon.” The Japanese lore has
a symbol of rabbits, who live on the Moon and pound rice
into ‘mochi’. The word mochi has two
meanings; both rice flour and full Moon or Rice Cake! This
Moon Rabbit I created had both symbols of a White Rabbit
and a Moon Rabbit holding a rice cake with a Moon on it!

Richard
& Jodi Creager
Geisha House Elves
8"
Hand Sculpted in Polymer Clay, OOAK, 2007
One of the things that Richard and I enjoy most
about Doll Making is to create 'The Story'... and the
interaction of the characters in the story... we believe
that this piece is a perfect example.... a small moment
in time in the life of two sisters.
These two little Japanese Elves are playing dress up
while their Mother is away shopping, and the fun
they are having will be remembered forever!
All accessories are made by Richard, including the small
wooden carved makeup pots, brushes, carved wooden shoes.
