An artist since childhood, and an art educator for 36 years, I have been creating dolls ranging from light-hearted critters to more contemplative human figures, since 1992. I fashion my pieces from a variety of media, including fabric, paperclay and painted polymer. My childhood was spent in various countries. The visits to museums or churches that were always on the agenda initiated my love for art. Children’s stories and poems were my first sources for inspiration. Later, I began to look inside myself to find more philosophical concepts to illustrate. I give my work titles that reflect the spark that generated each piece. Recently I have become interested in incorporating painting with my sculptures.
