NIADA
Artist Membership
NIADA encourages
gifted artists who create completely original dolls to strive
for the finest realization of their talents. Requirements for
membership are the highest. Artist membership in NIADA is by election.
Those desiring artist membership should contact the Standards
Committee Chair to receive an application and instructions for
submitting slides. The application fee is $25. For further information
contact Standards Chair Donna May Robinson at donnamaydolls@optonline.net.
At the annual
conference, the Standards Committee (eight voting Artist members)
and the Standards Committee Chair, review submitted slides and
award points. Applying artists receiving 30 or more points on
slides, of a possible 40, will be invited to submit a portfolio
approximately January, of the following year. The portfolio will
be circulated among committee members who will again award points.
Artists receiving 30 or more points for their portfolio will be
invited to submit at least three dolls for a vote by the full
membership. Election is by majority. Artists with a score of 30
or more points on slides, but with a portfolio score lower than
30, may resubmit a portfolio in the following year without paying
an additional application fee after advising the Standards Committee
Chair.
It is highly
recommended that artists interested in membership attend a conference
before deciding to apply for membership, if possible. This allows
the applicant to meet NIADA Artists, get an idea of the responsibilities
and involvement required of membership, and to assess the standards
of NIADA.
Artist members
are expected to participate in NIADA activities and help with
the requirements of keeping the organization functioning, both
at the annual conference and other times during the year. Annual
dues are $100.

NIADA
Patron Membership
Patrons are
a vital part of NIADA. NIADA welcomes those friends interested
in promoting dolls as fine art. Anyone desiring Patron Membership
should contact the Patron Director for an application. The completed
application should be returned to the Patron Director.
NIADA Patrons
actively support and promote NIADA in many ways -- the education
of other collectors about fine art dolls, the purchase of NIADA
dolls, promoting NIADA artists at shows and galleries, carrying
NIADA work in shops, or representing NIADA in various business
ventures.
Patrons do
much of the organizing and facilitating of the annual conference
and other events, plus innumerable assignments
that expedite the year round operation of NIADA. Annual dues are
$50.
