Sophie
by Helen Kish and Robert Tonner
Donated by Helen Facto
Sophie is a rare 7 1/2" all porcelain doll, totally poseable
and the first doll made by Tonner and Kish together for the 1998
NIADA convention in Seattle.
She is made of quality porcelain and has a beautiful classic Helen
Kish face. She has lovely dark brown hair. Her face is painted
in the beloved Helen Kish style. Sophie wears an adorable outfit
consisting of a hat, long sleeved turtleneck shirt, jumper and
tights all made of cotton knit in shades of plum and violet. She
has matching suede shoes and handbag. Jointed arms and legs and
a swivel head and stands on her own! She has her paper hang tag
and original box.
There were a limited number of these dolls made, although I honestly
don't know how many, probably under 200. Sophie was created by
Helen Kish and Robert Tonner so she represents the work of two
very popular NIADA artists. She was a forerunner to Helen Kish's
popular Riley and all of Riley's clothes will fit on Sophie.
Sophie will make a very special addition to the collection of
any lover of the beautiful work of Helen Kish and Robert Tonner.
